To call 'the incest diary' oppressive reading is an understatement. The writer, an anonymous American woman in her early 40s, describes in great detail how her father sexually abused her from the age of 3 to the age of 21. As a reader, you constantly ask yourself what worries you the most: the horror of the incest? Or the pleasure, described in pornographic terms, that the author experienced at times?

‘Het incestdagboek’ beklemmende lectuur noemen is een understatement. De schrijfster, een anonieme Amerikaanse vrouw van begin 40, beschrijft akelig gedetailleerd hoe haar vader haar seksueel misbruikte van haar 3de tot haar 21ste. Als lezer vraag je je voortdurend af wat je het meest verontrust: de gruwel van de incest? Of het genot, beschreven in pornografische termen, dat de auteur er bij momenten aan beleefde?

Despite the hard content, the book is very visual and imaginatively written.
Some visual ideas came straight out of the book: the reference to the painting 'The Nightmare' by Henry Fuseli (above the bed). The barbie and the dino. The chair with clothes on his turn is my reference to 'foreplay of a birth' by Edgard Tytgat.

Ondanks de harde inhoud is het boek erg beeldend en fantasierijk geschreven.
Enkele visuele ideeën kwamen recht uit het boek: de verwijzing naar het schilderij 'nachtmerrie' van Henry Fuseli (boven het bed). De barbie en de dino. De stoel met kleren is dan weer een eigen verwijzing naar 'voorspel van een geboorte' van Edgard Tytgat.
